Gears of War Movie Still Coming |
Dec 31 |
|
Despite the recent writter strikes happening all across Hollywood and greatly affecting movie and tv programming, the Gears of War the movie is still well on it's way. According to Cliffy B, the progress can be summerized as this:
We are currently at the point where we have had a couple drafts of the script and now we are talking to different directors and trying to feel out who would be the best fit for it,
It has been a really fascinating process to learn how Hollywood works. I just hope that whatever comes out of this is compelling entertainment and is very representative of the Gears of War universe.
This is what he said to Cineplex Entertainment, and so we are very happy to look forward to this great movie being released.

Gears of War Movie Confirmed! |
March 21 |
|
It looks like there will be a Gears of War The Movie after all! Epic has awarded New Line the rights to greenlight the movie. They're bringing in Stuart Beattie to do the adaptation and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey to produce the film. Although no director has yet been decided, they hope to release the movie around the summer of 2009.
Being that Epic has developed a deep and unfolding plot into the gameplay, hopefully the movie can live up to good expectations when it comes to the plotline.

Gears of War is Released |
Nov 19 |
|
Gears of War was released for the Xbox 360 on November 7, 2006 in select stores in the United States and was broadly released in major U.S. retailers on November 12, 2006 (this day was dubbed "Emergence Day" by Epic Games). It was also released on November 17, 2006 in Europe outside of Germany, where Microsoft did not publish the game after it was denied a rating. According to Microsoft Game Studios VP Shane Kim, the preorder sales were expected to reach $100M USD, second only to Halo 2 in videogame history. The game has been stated by the Vice-President of Epic Games, Mark Rein, to have cost an estimated $10 million to make.

Gears of War Gameplay |
Oct
21 |
|
Unlike previous first-person shooters by Epic Games, Gears of War takes a completely different perspective as a third-person shooter. This design choice reflects itself in the gameplay as Gears of War focuses mainly on sound team-based and cover-dependent tactics rather than brute force. Because of this, the player is able to carry only four weapons instead of a large array. The player's inventory contains two primary weapons, a sidearm, and a limited supply of grenades.
